Jessica Lange has taken her first Emmy Sunday for her role in HBO’s movie “Grey Gardens,”

The movie is about Albert and David Maysles’ 1975 documentary on “Big Edie” and her daughter, “Little Edie,” family of Jackie Kennedy Onassis who were caught living in filth on Long Island in the early 1970s. The documentary records the situation in which they lived and the profoundly codependent bond between mother and daughter.

The HBO movie portrays the Beales’ lives, via Little Edie’s diaries to fabricate their previous lives as members of Manhattan’s high society and their steady withdrawal from the world at their summer home in the Hamptons. Further, to Lange’s victory, “Grey Gardens” took the Emmy for best made-for-TV film, and Ken Howard won best supporting actor in a movie..
