When we say Children’s day we in India think that it is specifically for the India. But, do you know Children’s Day is celebrated all around the world on different dates and for different reasons.

Here some dates that are being celebrated as Children day around the world.

1. Universal Children’s Day is on November 20.
2. International Children’s Day is celebrated on June 1

In India Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday is celebrated as Children’s day in his memory on November 14. It is said that Nehru was affectionate and loved children a lot and was extremely happy to be in their midst. This was the reason his birthday was chosen to be Children’s day in India. But basically the celebration is simply to honor Children and Minors.

International Children’s Day originated in Turkey in 1920 (April 23, 1920). It gained popularity through Conference for the Well-being of Children held in Geneva, Switzerland (1925)

However, it is a mystery why June 1 was declared as the International Children’s Day.
