Droid, a smartphone built by Motorola running on Google’s Android 2.0

Verizon Wireless today officially introduced Droid, a smartphone built by Motorola running on Google’s Android 2.0 operating system. In press release, John Stratton, Verizon’s chief marketing officer, revealed that the price of the Droid will be priced at $199, including a two-year contract and a mail-in rebate. The Droid phones will on the shelves by November 6.
Verizon’s plan is roll out 3 Droid phones by the end of the year. One would be manufactured by HTC, another named Calgary, would support Android operating system with BLUR capability. Verizon and Google into sticky partnership now.
Verizon Droid would be an iPhone killer. It is expected to exceed Apple’s best-selling smartphone.
The droid’s ads and commercial contents pointing out the shortcomings in iPhone is provided below as it is.
“iDon’t have a real keyboard. iDon’t run simultaneous apps. iDon’t take night shots. iDon’t allow open development,” reads anti-Apple copy posted on the Droid website. “iDon’t customize. iDon’t run widgets. iDon’t have interchangeable batteries. Everything iDon’t, Droid does.”
