The Bangor Daily News is an American newspaper that was founded on June 18, 1889; in 1900 the paper merged with the Bangor Whig and Courier.

The Bangor Publishing Company publishes the paper in Bangor, Maine, in addition to two weekly papers that it distributes throughout Maine. The Bangor Daily News has local family ownership. It is known colloquially as “the BDN” or “the NEWS
With a daily circulation of about 56,000 and a weekend circulation of about 63,000, the Bangor Daily News covers events in central and northern Maine and is published Monday through Saturday. The paper, established in 1889, is one of the few remaining family owned papers in the country.
