Malayalam actress ties the knot with ace cinematographer
A Well known Malayalam actress Geethu Mohandas today exchanged wedding vows with ace cinematographer Rajiv Ravi at a function in Kochi.
Rajiv Ravi is Geetu Mohandas’s long time “friend for over five years from Chandini Bar,No Smoking, Dev D, 99, Gulal,Classmates, Jana etc.
Geetu’s Tamil films are Mouli directed Nala Damayanthi (2003),a comedy caper with Madhavan and K.Balachandar’s Poi (2006).
Geetu was in love with Rajeev Ravi,a Pune Film Institute graduate who was in front of the avant- garde film movement in Bollywood, for the last five years. He had terrific influence on her, which also created an aversion in her for doing “running around trees” kind of films.
Geethu Mohandas done 40 odd films in Malayalam and Tamil. In Malayalam, she started as a child artist with Fazil’s Onnu Muthal Poojiyam Vaare (1986) and subsequently as heroine did many Malayalam films like Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Nallu Pennungal,KP Kumaran’s Akashagopuram,Shyama Prasad’s Akale.
Last Month Geetu premiered her first directorial venture, a 22 minute Malayalam short film Kelkkunnundo, whose cameraman was Rajiv Ravi.
It is a very sensitive film that questions the rapid urbanization in cities which has wiped out playgrounds, leaving children with nowhere to play. Shot with five year old Hasna, a visually challenged girl the movie got great reviews from the celebrity directors like Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Rajeev Nath, Shyamaprasad, Lenin Rajendran, and others who attended the premiere.
