Google Racist Search Result Michelle Obama as a Monkey!
There is a controversy raging on regarding the Google Search which retrieves images of Michelle Obama depicted as a Monkey. This image which comes up on the search is hosted by a site that exists on the Blog platform once again owned by Google.
The Google refused to take the image off it’s search engine stating it’s stand on Free speech.
Here is what the spokesperson from Google had to say:
“It’s offensive to many people, but that alone is not a reason to remove it from our search index,” Google Inc. spokesman Scott Rubin said Tuesday. “We have, in general, a bias toward free speech.”
Instead, Google now displays an Ad to indicate that Google doesn’t endorse the offensive search result. Take a look at the picture for the Ad that appears when we search for the term Jew on Google.
If you ask our opinion, we would take Google’s side. Yes, basic human right to express should be in no way curbed. Else, what would be the difference between democracy and dictatorship? However, we have take note of how far the right to express can be stretched. There certainly needs to be a limit. We need to contemplate!!!
