18th Shatabdi Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav of Umiya Mata and Sahstrachandi Mahayagna is taking place on between 28th November 2009 and 2nd December 2010 at Unjha, near Ahmedabad. Nearly 45 lakh devotees are expected to take part in the festival.
Wide arrangements have been made by the Ahmedabad authorities to welcome visitor arriving at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in the city. There is going to be a band, and a group in traditional Gujarati attire to receive the devotees while they chant and sing in praise of mother goddess Umiya Mata. About 2.500 devotees expected to arrive by flight will be greeted with Chandan-Tilak and music. Apart from all this hospitality there is going to be two information desks that the devotees can access for any clarifications.
Umiya Mata Information:
Umiya Mata is the deity, the personification of Parvati (Shakthi, Shakti), worshipped by all Hindu sects in India, particularly by lakhs of Kadwa Patidars in India and across the world. She is the the consort of the Mighty Shivashankar and the daughter of Parvatraj Dakhsa.
The word Umiya is Uma, meaning mother. She occupies temple of Unjha and is worshipped by her sons and daughters across Gujarat and World. The most popular form Umiya is worshipped is of “Parvati” and she is also known as Nav Chandi or Nav Durga due to the nine forms popularly worshipped.
