Mike Penner, a popular Los Angeles Times sports writer is dead and the reports indicated that he is believed to have committed suicide.

Mike Penner who announced a couple of years ago that he was a transsexual and would be changing his name to Christine Daniels, has passed away at the age of 52.

Penner reverted back to using the name Mike Penner and was with Times as a columnist at the time of his death.

In a career spanning 25 years, Penner covered the National Football League, Major League Baseball, World Cup soccer, tennis, the Olympics and many more. A wonderful writer with a tint of wit was so successful as a reporter, columnist with Times.
