Former WWE star Umaga, real name Edward Fatu, has died at the age of 36 after suffering a second heart attack, according to the sources.
Earlier Friday, reports said Umaga was in a Houston hospital following a recent appearance at Hulkamania in Australia in November. Later today, without further detail, WWE issued the following statement confirming his death: “The WWE would like to express its deepest condolences to Mr. Fatu’s family, friends and fans on his tragic passing.”
He was released from his contract with the WWEin June after failing a drug test and refusing the WWE’s offer to attend drug rehab.
Fatu was taken to a Houston-area hospital after his wife found him unconscious with blood coming from his nose earlier today.
He is probably best known for headlining a Wrestlemania against Bobby Lashley in a match where WWE owner Vince McMahon put his hair on the line against the hair of Donald Trump.
Umaga will be greatly missed.
