Mike Leach, the head coach of Texas Tech Red Raiders has been suspended for misbehaving with an injured player.
According to reports, Adam James, the son of former NFL running back and current ESPN college football analyst Craig James, suffered a concussion and was unable to practice with the team in the lead up to the Alamo Bowl January 2.
The family says that Mike Leach arranged to hold James to an equipment room for three hours while practice was taking place on one day, and then confined James to an electrical closet during a second practice session.
Regarded as one of the most innovative offensive minds in college football, Leach has had a winning season every year since his tenure began at Tech.
Leach is atypical among NCAA Division I head football coaches, as he did not play football at the college level.
He is one of only four such coaches, with Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech, David Cutcliffe at Duke, and George O’Leary at UCF.
