Shannon Meehan, a combatant injured in Iraq, has authored a book. Shannon Meehan and his co-author, Roger Thompson, who authored a book “Beyond Duty: Life on the Front Line,” will at The Galleria in person to sign a book this Saturday.
The signing will take place at at GZ’s Used Books & Art between 12:30 PM and 2 PM, March 06, 2010.
Meehan illustrates what wounded and traumatized soldiers can get through treatment and treatment at Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center in Johnstown.
Being an Army lieutenant, Meehan is a decorated tank commander who was leading his unit on duty in Iraq. While on one of a house-to-house search for insurgents, Meehan requested in an air strike on a suspected location that unfortunately killed an innocent Iraqi family.
This incident and events following it threw the young lieutenant into depression. Although he is still troubled by his past experience, Meehan has been able to recover and channel his energy in highly creative direction.
