Eduardo Garcia Valseca opened up to Washington Post after nearly 2 years since his family experienced brutality of a Mexican kidnapping gang that kidnapped him and his wife in San Miguel de Allende and held captive for 7 1/2 months in a tiny filthy cell.

image Eduardo Garcia Valseca and his wife Jayne Rager Valseca were returning home after dropping their 3 kids at school, when a swerving white jeep cut them. A group of men jumped out from the jeep and pulled Eduardo and his wife out and bound them using handcuffs and duct tape.

His wife was set free the next day, so that she could put together the ransom money. The initial ransom was 8 million dollars, however the deal was negotiated for less.

Eduardo doesn’t want to disclose the exact amount on the concern that it might tempt others to commit similar acts. Eduardo, if you are not sure of who he is, is the son of a newspaper baron in Mexico who owns more than 40 publications.

Eduardo it seems weighed 160 pounds when he was kidnapped, he however came home weighing merely 90 pounds, and in addition had 2 gunshot wounds, 3 broken ribs and other illness.

    I saw the NBC show on this story and was appalled. I have been to San Miguel twice and loved it. I also have American friends in Mexico who go there often. if the Mexican government does not get a handle on this and prosecute the people responsible there will be less and less tourist business in Mexico which is such a shame as it is a beautiful country with beautiful people (with the exception of the vermin who commit these henious acts). I will, alas, not go back to San Miguel de Allende.
