Almost $40,000 was raised through Saturday’s “March for Babies” in Mount Airy. The event provided a reminder of the continuous need to battle problems that can impact their lives prior to birth.
Nearly 350 walkers congregated at Veterans Memorial Park, and in a while after 10 p.m. embarked on a 3.5-mile trek along West Lebanon Street, winding along several other city streets, and the Emily B. Taylor Greenway.

The interest behind the walk is to collect funds for the projects that the March of Dimes is implementing since it was first established. The 1^st March of Dimes walk was held 1970 and ever since then the reputation has been growing as the group aids increasingly the families to cope with the issues that accompany a premature baby.
