The former ABC News anchor, Ted Koppel’s son was discovered dead in an apartment in upper Manhattan this Tuesday after he returned in an inebriated condition, the reports have indicated.
The reports further have confirmed that, Andrew was found in a 
Washington Heights apartment, where Russell Wimberly, a waiter he had met at a Hell’s Kitchen bar on Monday afternoon, brought him earlier in the evening.
A resident of the apartment where Koppel died, told the press that, Koppel was really messed up when he came back to the apartment in a drunken state and that he was talking incorrigibly. He also told that he and few other apartment inmates took him to the bedroom and laid him down to rest. Some hours later they were concerned about him and called 911 after they realized that Koppel was not breathing.
Andrew Koppel had given-up his job at the Housing Authority 2 years ago and ran a private law practice in Woodbridge, New Jersey.
He has had history of alcohol problems in the past. He was arrested after beating a senatorial aide in 1993, and 3 years prior he was arrested for DUI after breaking his father’s Mercedes.
His mother Grace Anne Dorney Koppel, his father Ted Koppel, and his 3 sisters, Deirdre, Tara, and television journalist Andrea Koppel-Pollack survive Andrew.
