Gen. David Petraeus collapsed for a few seconds while in a Senate hearing, however got up after a few seconds and went out the room without taking aid from anyone to come back later after 20 minutes to the hearing room.

Petraeus, who is 57, had completed conveying to Sen. John McCain that he trusts that the planned 2011 draw down of U.S. troops is still on the track, and when McCain was reacting to that Petraeus just slumped.

Petraeus currently is the head of U.S. Central Command supervising the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Petraeus told the senators later that he was feeling a bit dizzy.

The four-star general is trusted to be one of the foremost candidates for next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff post.
