Lakers beat Rockets in a tight finish in the 2nd half of the game posting a score of 112 over Rocket’s 110.

The Lakers were trailing at 62-51 at halftime; however they sprung back in the second half to everybody’s awe.

This turns out to be the Lakers’ 3rd consecutive season-opening win and at the same moment it is 8th win in their last 9 games against Houston. The Rockets have beaten L.A. only for the second time since their win against the Lakers on opening night of the 2007 to 2008 season.

This victory puts Phil Jackson one step away from joining Lenny Wilkens, Don Nelson, Pat Riley and Jerry Sloan as the NBA coaches to have at least 1,100 wins.

That night Kobe Bryant scored 27 points, while fresher Steve Blake hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 18.8 seconds left.
