image It is a groundbreaking policy to end the act of discharging openly gay service members. The legislative policy called Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been accepted and the Pentagon will be instructed to end the policy of discharging openly gay servicemembers.

President Obama in a statement released from the White House lauds the policy. He said Senate has taken a significant step toward ending a policy that weakens the national security while infringing the very ideals that the nation’s brave men and women in uniform risk their lives to defend.

He also said, by ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” the nation would be no more denied the service of several patriotic Americans enforced to leave the military, in spite of years of excellent performance, for just one reason that they happen to be gay. As Commander-in-Chief, he pointed out that he is absolutely certain that bringing this change would only underline the professionalism of the troops as the most excellent fighting force in the world.

The transition to a new policy would come into effect ASAP and will ensure the country’s military strength and readiness.
