Skoda has made public its new small car, the Citigo recently. Citigo built on the Volkswagen Up platform is a product that Skoda will be focusing on aggressively. Skoda has turned hyperactive with nearly a new car being revealed every 6 months these days.
Citigo’s has adopted several style quotients from the Fabia saddled with looks borrowed from VisionD and MissionL concept cars. Fine grille with chrome plated frame, seems similar to the MissionL concept.
At 3560mm length and 1650mm width it comes with a 2420mm wheelbase offering a good improvement in the interior space that is comfortable for long drives. The car towers at 1480mm with a boot volume of 251 litres with seats set up.
Initial version would be powered by 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that would deliver 59bhp and 74bhp depending on the version and will be introduced with both manual and automatic transmissions as per choice.
The innovative brake assistance system for collision avoidance would be fitted in the European models and would also be equipped with several storage compartments, Bluetooth, and a touch screen too.
Citigo with 3-doors would be one of the cars released under the ‘New Small Family’ plans; however Skoda would be concentrating more on 4-door version as per the official report from Skoda.
Taking into account the revelations made by the Skoda spokesperson, the Citigo would be priced competitively. And the most interesting part is that there could also be an electric version of the Citigo that might be introduced once Skoda masters the technology, as per the report.
Will Citigo be a hit in Indian markets very soon? We need to wait and watch. For now please subscribe and stay on for more updates on Auto segment.
