Indian students would soon be able lay hands on the cheapest laptop or tablet costing meagre $35. Yes the tablet dubbed Sakshat will be relesed tomorrow in India. Low cost Sakshat has been designed in India, fully functional as an attempt to bridge the technological gap in the society.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and National Mission on Education togther have developed this device and would be linking closer to 25,000 colleges and 400 universities through an pre-existing Sakshat portal to deliver e-learning programs.

The device is expected to drop its cost as it goes from $35 to $10.

The device would come with an internet browsers, PDF reader, video conferencing facilities, open office, sci-lab, media player, remote device management capability, multimedia input-output interface option, and multiple content viewer.

The idea of providing such a low cost laptops is to spread literacy through technological methods as claimed by the government.
