Each router has its own methods for installation. Basically you need a Internet connection provided by a service provides, the WIFI router , and Ethernet cables.

First connect your you cord provided by you Internet service provider into the WAN slot. Clip the cord into it. Then connect the one end of yet another Ethernet cord with the clips on both ends in to the LAN slot. There will be several slots in the WIFI router for you to connect to several machines. Number of slots depends on the router you purchase. Now connect the other end to the LAN slot on your machine.
Once you switch on the router, open up a browser and type in the default IP provided in the Router’s configuration manual that is shipped with it. This will open up a webpage where you can set your network. You can enable disable features, and setup security options too. Basically you will type in the User Id and password provided by your Internet service provider.

Now got to the Network Adaptor settings on your machine, the connection should be automatically recognized by your machine or laptop. You are now ready to browse.

In case you want to get connected to the router through WIFI, first enable to WIFI on your Laptop or machine. If the WIFI is switched off it wouldn’t connect. Then you need to add your laptop to the network provided by the router. For that you need to setup home network on your system (Machine/Laptop). While you setup the Home network, it will ask for the ID to connect to the network. This ID can be obtained from the same Webpage that you opened on the router.(The default IP that was located in the user manual). Mostly it will be 192.168.2.1, or something similar. Punch in the values and finish adding your comp to the network. Now if you go the network adapter setting on your machine, you will see the Wireless adapter enabled and connected to Internet. You are ready to go in surfing the internet wire free.

Here is a youtube video that shows you explicitly how to setup WIFI on your Laptop or Desktop. Take a look. The instructions that we have provided here is for Windows OS (7, & 8). It might be different on Linux, or Mac. Use Google to get more information.
